What to do in floripa

Florianópolis is my favorite place in the world! (Lais here, of course—everyone knows Nick’s favorite place, right?) I lived here for four years before moving to the USA, and this city holds a special place in my heart.

To help you make the most of your trip, I’ve put together a list of my favorite things to do in Floripa, along with recommendations from friends and locals who know the island best.

Florianópolis, often called Floripa or Ilha da Magia (Magic Island), is a unique destination full of charm and diversity. Officially, it has 42 beaches, though the real number is even higher when you include the hidden gems. What I love most about this city is that each neighborhood has its own distinct vibe—visiting them feels like traveling to different cities all on the same island.

Below, you’ll find my favorite neighborhoods and activities, plus some must-do tourist experiences for those spending more time here. I hope you fall in love with Floripa as much as I have!

Florianopolis has some of the best beaches in Brazil, so be sure to plan some time for the beach at least once on your trip.

My Favorite Beaches:

Joaquina, Praia Mole, and Campeche

These beaches are perfect if you’re looking for breathtaking views and big waves. Each one has its own unique vibe and plenty of space to soak in the island’s beauty. Tip: Grab a seat, relax, and enjoy some refreshing caipirinhas while taking in the scenery!

Touristic Things To Do:

Campeche Island

Campeche Island is a must-visit, known for its stunning Caribbean-like views. To reach this paradise, you’ll need to take a tour boat. There are several departure times available daily from Praia do Campeche, making it easy to plan your visit.

Visit the City Center

In the center is gathered the largest number of tourist attractions and historical and cultural attractions. Must-go places: Hercilio Luz Bridge, Florianopolis Public Market, Mirante Morro da Cruz (view of the whole city),

Boat Tour Costa da Lagoa

The Costa da Lagoa is a neighborhood accessed only by trail or boat, it's a cultural and gastronomic experience in the middle of nature.

Hikes

If you enjoy hiking, Floripa is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Here are some of my favorite trails that offer stunning views and unforgettable experiences:

Lagoinha do Leste

This is my absolute favorite hike! The trail leads you to Lagoinha do Leste Beach, a hidden gem accessible only by hiking. The journey is worth it for the pristine beauty and seclusion of this incredible spot.

Trilha de Naufragados

A scenic hike that takes you to the picturesque Naufragados Beach, where you’ll find breathtaking views, a historic lighthouse, and the perfect blend of nature and tranquility.

Trilha Praia do Gravatá

This trail leads to Praia do Gravatá, a small, charming beach surrounded by lush green hills. It’s a relatively short hike, making it ideal for a relaxing day outdoors.
